Donald Trump has said his daughter Ivanka was “checked out” ahead of the 2020 election after she was used as evidence against him during the Jan. 6 House Committee hearing.
Mr Trump also fumed at his former Attorney General Bill Barr for turning against him during the investigation into the riot.
The house panel played parts of their interview with Mr Barr on Thursday night. Mr Barr said Mr Trump’s false cheating allegations were “bullshit” and that he didn’t want to be “a part of it”.
Ms Trump, one of her father’s most trusted advisors, told the panel that she doesn’t believe the 2020 election was stolen.
She said what Mr Barr told her about the election changed her perspective. “It affected my perspective,” she told the committee. “I respect Attorney General Barr, so I accepted what he said.”
“Ivanka Trump was not involved in viewing or investigating the election results,” Mr Trump claimed on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday morning. “She was already checked out and I think she was just trying to be respectful of Bill Barr and his position as Attorney General (he sucked!).”
“I’ve had three conversations with the President that I can recall,” Mr Barr told the committee. “One was on November 23rd, one was on December 1st and one on December 14th and I’ve been through a kind of give and take of those discussions and in that regard I’ve made it clear that I don’t agree with the idea too.” saying the election was stolen and putting out this stuff that I told the President were cops**,” he added during the taped interview, which was first released to the public Thursday night.
“And I didn’t want to be a part of it, and that was one of the reasons I decided to leave when I did. I remarked, I think it was December 1st, you know, he can’t live in a world where the incumbent government stays in power on the basis of their view without being backed up by specific evidence that it was at cheating the elections,” he added.
Mr Trump angrily slapped Mr Barr on Truth Social.
“Bill Barr was a weak and frightened attorney general who was always ‘played’ and threatened by Democrats and terrified of impeachment,” Trump wrote.
“How do you not get charged? Do nothing or say nothing, especially about the obviously rigged and stolen election or, in other words, the crime of the century! The Democrats screwed Barr, he was stupid, ridiculously said there was no problem with the election, and they left him alone. It worked for him, but not for our country!” Mr Trump added.
Mr Trump wrote in a second post about Mr Barr that he was “a coward who wouldn’t even let his US attorney look at it in Philadelphia, where voter fraud was rampant… I believe that by their inaction others this was also said!”
“The so-called ‘Rush on the Capitol’ wasn’t caused by me, it was caused by a rigged and stolen election!” Mr Trump claimed.
“I NEVER said, or even thought about saying ‘Hang Mike Pence.’ This is either a made up story by someone who wants to be a star or FAKE NEWS!” Mr Trump wrote in reference to evidence that he had responded positively to his supporters’ chants of hanging the Vice President for refusing to to help overthrow the election.
“Many people have spoken to me about the election results, both for and against, but I’ve never wavered a bit – follow the facts and the evidence. The 2020 presidential election was rigged and stolen… And now look at our country – not pretty!!!” Posting on Truth Social, Mr Trump repeated his false claims that the election was stolen.
More to come…
