Summer Game Fest Live organizer and host Geoff Keighley has advised fans to manage their expectations for this week’s event, confirming there will be “a few” new game announcements. The show will focus more on previously announced games, Keighley said.
“We have some new game announcements on the show and hopefully some surprises if all goes well. But it’s definitely a show that’s mostly focused on things that are announced,” Keighley said during a recent Twitter Spaces discussion, as transcribed by VGC.
Keighley said people can expect to see games like The Callisto Protocol, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Gotham Knights and Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course during the event, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be there of some sort too will be the announcement.
“We’re doing some good things for you, but definitely live up to your expectations in terms of the megaton shocks that are coming your way,” Keighley said. “This is not the Game Awards. We have a lot of good stuff to show you, but buyers are wary of some of the crazy rumors I see out there about things people are expecting to be announced.”
The event itself will last “about an hour and a half to two hours,” Keighley said, warning that total running time isn’t fully known yet.
Summer Game Fest Live will be held Thursday, June 9 starting at 11:00 am PT / 2:00 pm ET. For more information, check out GameSpot’s breakdown of how to watch Summer Game Fest Live and what to expect.
