Skyrim fan mods game to turn it into Red Dead Redemption 2

By now, the gaming world has seen more than its fair share of it Skyrim. With The Elder Scrolls 6 still nowhere in sight, fans are shrugging their shoulders and wondering when the next entry will finally appear. That doesn’t mean the folks at Bethesda’s 2011 epic haven’t moved on. There are still so many ways to breathe new life into the game that usually come in the form of mods. It’s even possible to modify it to the point that it’s almost like a completely different game.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

That’s what Reddit user jackfjdah1 did, who recently uploaded a short video of his Skyrim Playthrough that shows something pretty strange, something that doesn’t belong in the world of Tamriel. Basically, the game has been modified to feature a cowboy-like character holding a gun, not too dissimilar to such Red Dead Redemption 2. The weapon also works, which can be seen when the player walks into some Skyrim bandits and starts taking them down while fighting music plays that sounds like Woody Jackson’s “American Venom” featured in Rockstar’s Wild West sequel.

The Elder Scrolls 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are among the top-selling video games of the last decade, each selling in the tens of millions. Given that, it’s not surprising that modders would be interested in mixing the two together. Both have deep lore and huge open worlds for the player to explore, and it will be interesting to know if anyone out there has done the opposite and added the Dragonborn RDR2‘s interpretation of the USA at the turn of the century.

Skyrim Players seem to enjoy turning the game into something different, and even when they’re not trying to turn it into another franchise, there are mods that change the way the vanilla epic RPG plays in a different way is played. For example, there is an add-on that rebuilds the city of Helgen, which was destroyed at the beginning of the game, and one that does Skyrim more realistic by adding the need for players to eat, drink and sleep.

Skyrim Mods can get pretty ridiculous, but they keep a lot of fans entertained while waiting for the next installment in the series. It’s been more than ten years since this entry was published, so it seems like the community is just squeezing out as much playtime as possible, and if that means combining it with another game, so be it.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim – Anniversary Edition is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
