Pizza Hut promotes Drag Book for children’s reading program

Pizza Hut is sponsoring a book entitled Big wig about a boy who dresses in “drag” clothes and wears a wig with supernatural powers, through his children’s reading incentive program BOOK IT!

BOOK IT! is a reading program sponsored by the pizza chain aimed at children from preschool through sixth grade, or ages four to 12. It awards a free one-topping pizza when they meet a monthly reading goal. Big wig was published in the summer reading program Camp BOOK IT!

The book Big wig is a “wonderful read-aloud book [that] celebrates the universal childhood experience of dressing up and the confidence that comes with donning a costume,” reads the reading program’s website.

Simon & Schuster, who published the book on drag, wrote on their website: “[i]n the spirit of Julian is a mermaidthis irrepressible picture book celebrates drag kids, individuality and self-confidence from the perspective of a fabulous wig!” Julian is a mermaid is another children’s book written in 2018 that contains transgender undertones.

Promoted on the side Big wig the summer reading program featured two more books with LGBT undertones, fitting for Pride Month, which the left celebrates in June. be amazing, written by Desmond Napoles, is about “the history of the LGBTQ community,” writes the website of Macmillan, who published the book. As Breitbart News’ John Nolte wrote in 2018, Napoles, then 11 years old, was filmed in a New York City gay bar dressed in drag while dancing in front of adults.

The other book being promoted for Pride Month is Perfect Pegasusalso published by Simon & Shuster.

On the BOOK IT! Big wig and Perfect Pegasus are aimed specifically at preschoolers through third grade while be amazing Aimed at preschool through first grade children.

Jonathan Hillman, who proudly promotes the book he’s authored on his Twitter handle, celebrated the book’s selection for the Pizza Hut Reading Program, claiming he “grew up reading Book It!”

However, Hillman has received backlash from conservatives who point out that the book has sexually suggestive undertones as it is a story about a boy who dresses in women’s clothing.

Pizza Hut joins a growing list of large companies promoting LGBT issues in children, including The Walt Disney Company, which has received backlash from Americans for its directives to promote suggestive LGBT issues in children.
