Deadpool 3 is still in development, and now writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have provided a status update on the project, including a new comment on Disney’s influence. Speaking to The Playlist, Reese said, “We’re in the lab working on it with Ryan Reynolds all the time, and we have a great conversation.”
“So hopefully this will translate and ultimately entertain the world. But you know, it’s a marriage between Fox and Disney and it’s two different universes and it’s not easy,” Reese said. “But it’s also a wonderful challenge and, you know, high-class problems, to be able to bring these, these worlds together. So let’s enjoy it.”
Es sind diese [Disney] People and these people do things their way. And we were used to doing things our way, so there are differences, but I think the great thing about it is that Marvel has been incredibly supportive,” Reese said.
He said Disney will “let Deadpool be Deadpool” and that Disney has only shown “nothing but support” to the Deadpool franchise so far. there could There comes a time when Disney management says to a certain joke, “You know, that’s too far,” but that hasn’t happened yet.
“It was nothing but ‘How can we help you?’ “What from our universe would you like to use? How, how can we make your life easier?” And we will let Deadpool be Deadpool. We’re not… this won’t be the Disney fid Deadpool. So they’re awesome, and now it’s up to us to come through and justify that belief,” Reese said.
Finally, Reese said he expects Deadpool 3 to be rated R to stay true to the tradition of the series, adding that Disney won’t “fight with the tone of the film,” although he did admit that there was a ” outer chance” that something could change this.
Deadpool 3 is directed by Stranger Things veteran Shawn Levy, who also directed Reynolds in Free Guy. Tim Miller (Terminator: Dark Fate) directed the first Deadpool film to set records for the grossing of an R-rated film. The second was by John Wick co-director David Leitch.
Reese and Wernick’s latest project is the Netflix film Spiderhead, starring Chris Hemsworth, which will be released on June 17th.
