Sony Bend, the studio behind 2019’s Days Gone, has announced it’s working on a brand new IP while unveiling the studio’s new logo.
“We’re excited to share just a small snippet of the news on our current project today,” says Kevin McAllister, Bend Studio’s online community specialist, on PlayStation Blog. “We are currently working on a new IP that will include multiplayer and build on the open world systems of Days Gone, but bring you a whole new world that we’re very excited to create for you. We can’t wait to unveil them to you when it’s time.”
In June 2021, PlayStation Studios CEO Herman Hulst confirmed that Sony Bend is working on a new project that is not a sequel to Days Gone. Now we have some more information, namely that it has a multiplayer component and an open world structure.
However, there are still some fans clamoring for a Days Gone 2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. Despite the game’s commercial success, it wasn’t received as critically as some of Sony’s other big-budget exclusives. Part of Sony Bend has reportedly been relegated to work on a multiplayer game with Naughty Dog. Another team within Sony Bend was reportedly helping out on a new Uncharted game, which angered some of the studio bosses.
As for Sony Bend’s new logo, the studio says it represents its location, history and lifestyle in central Oregon. Oregon served as the setting for Days Gone, but it’s unknown if the latest game will also feature a Pacific Northwest location.
